Kinnickinnic State Park was a good state park that my dog and I just checked out today. The park had a pretty good amount of elevation change since it is up atop of a bluff area overlooking the St Croix and Kinnickinnic rivers. They have a nice beach and picnic area you can easily access after walking down a fairly steep paved hill trail. The picnic and beach area do not allow dogs in this area. There a few different parking lots throughout the park, which some have picnic areas, that you can park and get on a trail and hike through the well maintained trails through the woods. They have multiple bathroom facilities throughout the park.
Beautiful area, lots of wild flowers, now have bike trails. Last ti.e here was 3 years ago in fall n now back again. Alot more trails but still no easy access to the falls. There is a small man-made hidden trail to get you close to the small falls. Use caution ⚠️.
Nice place to beach the boat and socialize and relax. Don't plan to have space to beach if you arrive late on a popular weekend, plan to anchor offshore. There are NO restroom facilities.
Need a state park sticker to enter. Plenty of parking and wasn't busy during the week when we went. Not my favorite state park but nonetheless nice. Hiking trails were decent. Restrooms and picnic area.
A beautiful quiet area for a relaxing walk. We brought our dogs for the fun and they loved it. I will say Buggy in summer time, but that's because they don't use the chemicals off trail. Dogs are cool on trails, our dogs loved it, but aren't allowed @ beach or picnic areas..
Stopped here for a couple hours with not much else to do for the day. Took the kids and went hiking, left the dogs at home, though we've taken them here before. It was a nice cool day, almost perfect. We went to the closest parking lot beyond the entrance. Needed to get some caches there...wore shorts. If you go here for the same thing fyi, wear pants...kinda wish I did for some of the trekking off the trails a bit. Trails were good, and didn't see another person around, had the place to ourselves. Turned into mushroom hunters, ran across all kinds of interesting finds. Kids found it way more interesting than I would have thought...
This is a great state park situated on the St. Croix River. There are many trails to go off of (including a "hidden" trail that you have to leave the main park to get to) and I have to be honest, these were some of the best marked hiking trails I've been on. Not once was I confused as to what trail I was on - I didn't even need to look at the map. There is also a nice overlook here and a beautiful beach. But be warned; it's a long, steep trek on a paved trail to get down to the beach - that seemed longer and steeper on the way up!
Nice park for an decent hike. As an out of state person, it cost $11 for the day to enter. There are a lot of different parking areas with picnic tables and grills. There is a bunch of connected trails that are all around a mile each. I did a loop that hit most of the trails that took about 3 hours. Lots of different scenery with woods, vistas from top of hill, beach at water level, and open prairies. Nice way to spend a few hours.
